2027 Mercedes GLB Review: 3 Screens, 7 Seats, and a Starry Sky Roof - Everything You Need to Know! (2025)

Get ready for a star-studded ride with the all-new Mercedes GLB! This compact crossover is set to make a splash with its unique features and upgrades.

A Seven-Seat Sensation

Mercedes is giving its compact car lineup a much-needed refresh to stay ahead of the competition. While BMW has bid farewell to its seven-seater, the 2 Series Gran Tourer, Mercedes is keeping the dream alive with the second-generation GLB. This bad boy is all set to make its world premiere on December 8, and we can't wait to see it in action!

The GLB is coming to the US for the 2027 model year, and it's bringing some serious upgrades. While it retains its boxy exterior, the interior is where the magic happens. Inspired by the CLA and CLA Shooting Brake, the GLB boasts a triple-screen layout to capture the attention of buyers. However, the MBUX Superscreen setup is an optional extra, so you can choose whether you want that extra screen or not.

Screen Sizes and Surprises

While Mercedes hasn't revealed the exact screen sizes, we're expecting a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and dual 14-inch touchscreens. It's like having your own personal cinema on the go! The layout seems to be borrowed from the CLA, so if you're a fan of that model, you'll feel right at home in the GLB.

But here's where it gets controversial... The starry-sky panoramic glass roof with illuminated stars is an optional extra. Yes, you read that right! While the CLA offers this feature, the GLB makes you pay a little extra for the celestial experience. But hey, it's worth it for those who want to feel like they're driving under the night sky.

Rear Row Revolution

The key difference between the CLA and GLB is at the rear. Mercedes has introduced an optional third row with two individual seats, giving you the flexibility to accommodate more passengers. The sliding second row is standard on seven-seat versions and optional on the five-seater, so you can customize your space. And when those extra seats aren't needed, they can be folded flat, creating more cargo space for your adventures.

Powertrain Power

The new GLB is expected to follow the CLA's lead when it comes to powertrains. You'll have a choice of single- and dual-motor EV variants, as well as a mild-hybrid setup centered around a turbocharged 1.5-liter "M252" four-cylinder engine. In the CLA, this engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, sending power to the front wheels or an available AWD system. The electric CLA offers standard rear-wheel drive with the option of 4Matic.

The Future of Mercedes Compacts

Mercedes is not stopping at the GLB. The compact car renewal will continue with a next-gen GLA and a smaller G-Class. And that's not all! A direct replacement for the A-Class is also in the works, according to Mathias Geisen, a management board member for marketing and sales. It's unclear whether it will be offered in both hatchback and sedan forms, but one thing's for sure: Mercedes is committed to keeping its compact car game strong.

So, what do you think of the new Mercedes GLB? Are you ready to experience the starry-sky effect and all the other features this compact crossover has to offer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! We'd love to hear your opinions and spark some friendly debate.
