They're all from around 1983-1984, and one of them had an episode from a series that I'm fairly positive is lost media, called "べムべムハンター こてんぐテン丸" or "Bemu Bemu Hunter Kotengu Tenmaru". There's very little documented about the show in English, but from what I've gathered, it was another attempt to capitalize on the "Yokai Boom" that was popular at the time before the third Gegege no Kitaro anime completely enveloped the scene. I have Episode 19, which is the final episode. A user on YouTube uploaded an episode a few years back, but I'm fairly positive that this is all that's surfaced. I can't find anything about this series receiving a home video/digital release. I've uploaded the episode onto IA. You can watch it here. So far, this is the only piece of lost media I've found on these tapes. However, I'm still going documenting and cataloguing everything. Some of the tapes have commercials, which is always fun to see. |

Yeah, it looks like “Bemu Bemu Hunter Kotengu Tenmaru”’s My Anime List page barely has any information: myanimelist.net/anime/17687/Bemubemu_Hunter_Kotengu_Tenmaru It’s nice to see that Toei still has an page for this on it’s official website, although much like the MAL page it’s very sparse. There doesn’t appear to have been an official home release of this anime. lineup.toei-anim.co.jp/ja/tv/tenmaru/ It does appear that there was a manga, after searching “べムべムハンター・こてんぐテン丸 漫画” on duckduckgo it appears that there were only 3 volumes. There was also a LCD game: youtu.be/q2hZBfn17EM Also, looks like someone online is selling animation cels: aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/n110033715/ Lastly, here’s a Japanese fan-site about this series.: kiokunokasabuta.web.fc2.com/kiokutenmaru.html (This site has a list of the episode titles along with the staff and dates on which each premiered on T.V. ) Anime News Network’s page has English information about the staff and cast: www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1216 |

This is an interesting fansite, after skimming a bit on this page there is confirmation that Tenmaru ends after 19 episodes and was cancelled without warning. The writer is frustrated about it’s sudden cancelation because obviously they really enjoyed the show even though it seems to be forgotten by other anime fans. The writer also states that there are 4 volumes of the manga. So yeah, this is certainly a case of lost media because the final episode (20) never aired and there was never an official media release. There is nowhere online that we have found where you can watch all the episodes that aired on television, the only way to get those would be finding home recordings. |

There's about 65 pages... I'm halfway done scanning it, and I plan on finishing and uploading the rest of it by either today or tomorrow. Interesting thing to note: There's about five pages worth of a "deleted scene" that may have been omitted from the final episode. But, since Episode 8 has never surfaced, there's no way to confirm it. I will provide a link to the scans on the Internet Archive once I am finished. |

I don't recall seeing the gourd bike in the 2 episodes we've found so far. I'm going to tweet in Japanese about how this series is lost media and hopefully get some leads. Surely, someone out there recorded this. 17 episodes remain lost. |

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for them in the future, though Comic BomBom has omitted manga chapters from their books in the past. It can make trying to find a complete series sort of a nightmare, lol |

If you did then you would know that makes no sense. Are you refering to the manga or other merchandise being found at a store in Japan or what? This anime was only ever aired on television and according to Japanese sources it's last episode wasn't aired at all. So... What are you talking about? |
