Prime Video's Ad-Supported Streaming Platform Reaches 315 Million Monthly Viewers Globally
Amazon Prime Video has achieved a significant milestone in its ad-supported streaming platform's global reach, attracting 315 million monthly viewers. This impressive figure, based on Amazon's internal data up to August 2025, represents a substantial increase from the 200 million monthly viewers recorded in April 2024. Jeremy Helfand, Vice President of Prime Video Advertising, emphasized the transformative nature of this achievement for the tech giant's streaming service.
Helfand stated, 'This expanded audience across 16 countries showcases our customer-centric approach to enhancing the viewing experience while providing valuable advertising opportunities for brands. We are just beginning to explore the potential when premium entertainment, engaged viewers, and innovative ad-tech converge on an unprecedented scale.'
Prime Video's entry into the advertising business began in early 2024, when it introduced ads for all U.S. users as a default option, with subscribers able to opt out for a small monthly fee. This move positioned Prime Video alongside other commercial-free services like Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max, as it sought to diversify its revenue streams beyond subscription fees. The platform's ad-supported subscription tier has been rolled out in 16 countries, including the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, and the U.K.
In a recent development, Netflix introduced a new metric called Monthly Active Viewers (MAV) for its ad-supported subscription tier, claiming 190 million such viewers in 12 countries. Prime Video's ad tier has already reached over 130 million U.S. customers, up from 115 million in 2024, and continues to expand its global reach.
